Rice versus noodles:
Rice, it could be said, is probably China’s most famous staple food. However, a significant proportion of the population will choose to eat noodles rather than rice. Rice is available pretty much everywhere and noodles are often the domain of northern provinces. During meals, dishes (anything from vegetables to meat or soup) will be served all together, with the rice or noodles served last. Rice is often sticky (steamed) and although a chopstick challenge, it is still possible handle – just. Noodles present a different and awkward challenge. Either way the Chinese struggle too so you shouldn’t feel too uncomfortable.
