Making Money:

Contrary to popular belief, it seems that China is sometimes the most capitalistic country in the world. The drive for wealth is insatiable. The young child will say money is the root of a happy life (not discounting love in the process), the old, unemployed, homeless guy will collect your empty water and juice bottles to reclaim a few Jao (less than one RMB), and the Chinese economy will power on in its quest for wealth. The Chinese are most definitely hard and life-long workers. One has only to drift down a high street and take in the array of thriving shops, small businesses and eateries. At meaningful times of the year, people burn paper money in back streets or at quiet road junctions. The idea here is to provide money to their loved ones who have passed away so they can buy clothes and food ‘upstairs’. That is the extent of China’s moneymaking character. It is an admirable trait that the Chinese possess and is now being encouraged and channelled efficiently by the Government. Prosperity, it seems, is definitely on the cards for China.
